About

Hello – I’m Nigel a sixty-something Londoner.  I’m reaching the stage in my life when I have an opportunity to do more travelling, which I wish to use while I still am able. I am also lucky enough to have dual British/Irish nationality. Freedom of movement is important to me, so from now on I will be travelling on my Irish passport within the EU.

When I first turned sixty, I set myself the challenge of travelling within a week to (the then) 668 stations which you can visit for free using TfL’s 60+ Oyster Card. I kept a blog of those travels which can still be found here. The Europe Explored project is just on a bigger scale and over a longer time-scale.

One of my most memorable adventures from my youth was a solo Interrailing journey in 1983 from London to the Black Sea and back, from which I still have vivid memories. I hope my travels over the next few years will provide further memories to take me into my dotage.
